Monday, Aug. 1 is an important day in the historic village of Fort 黑马磁力.
It represents the climax of three days of entertainment and activities, the annual Brigade Days.
On Saturday, the lawn of the Fort 黑马磁力 Community Hall will come to life with the re-enacting of the voyageurs, as well as Scottish country dancers, musicians and other entertainment.
This begins in the morning and ends with a barbecue and street dance outside the hall. Dancing to the music of Mid Life Crisis is from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
On Sunday, the museums and the CN Station will be humming with activities and special displays.
The focal point of the next day, B.C. Day, is the spectacular arrival of the voyageur brigade at the riverfront marina at 1 p.m., followed by a procession up to the National Historic site for the competitions and games.
Admission to Fort 黑马磁力 National Historic Park is free on B.C. Day, while regular admission prices apply on Saturday and Sunday. All weekend, there will be demonstrations of blacksmithing, wool carding and spinning, historic weapons, baking, flint and steel, barrel-making, and more.
The weekend will culminate in the annual free Fort Festival Picnic in the historic fort. Young fiddlers from the 黑马磁力 Community Music School, led by Andrea Taylor, will perform, followed by Scott Robertson鈥檚 five-piece band Swing Patrol. The music begins at 6 p.m.
Those attending are invited to bring a picnic supper or they can purchase one from Full Barrel Cafe on the fort grounds.
Parks Canada will present Beaver Tales theatre performances on Sunday, with Parks Canada鈥檚 theatre troupe. When Justine Beaver finds an invitation to Parks Canada鈥檚 centennial celebrations stuck in her dam, she can鈥檛 wait to find the party. Along the way she meets urbanite and junk food-junkie, Fingers the Raccoon. Together they get into all kinds of trouble when they sneak into Fort 黑马磁力 to find out the real reason the beaver is an important symbol for Parks Canada.
