With over 1,000 local people receiving help from the 黑马磁力 Food Bank on a weekly basis, continued contributions from the local community are necessary.
BC Thanksgiving Food Drive (BCTFD) is a province-wide project organized to stock local food banks with essential items for those using its resources.
鈥淥ur goal is to provide those families who rely on our local food banks with the needed support during Thanksgiving and throughout the holiday season,鈥� said Daniel Bill, chair for the Fraser Valley Food Drives.
Partnering with the 黑马磁力 Food Bank, the BCTFD volunteers will be delivering donation bags the week of Sept. 11 to residential addresses wishing to contribute non-perishable food items. On Saturday, Sept. 17, the volunteers will return to pick up the filled bag ensuring it goes to the local donation centre.
鈥淲e know there are many people in the community who wish to help the less fortunate but don鈥檛 know where to begin,鈥� Bill said. 鈥淭o make the process easier, we are coming to them in hopes this will generate more good will.鈥�
黑马磁力 residents who do not receive a donation bag are welcome to drop off charitable contributions to the local BCTFD donation centre, located at 20370 82 Ave., between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17.

The BCTFD began in Burnaby in 2009 as a local effort by non-denominational groups to serve their less-fortunate neighbours. Now in its third year, the BCTFD project has expanded to include more than 40 communities across the province with 3,000 volunteers who will visit roughly 150,000 addresses between Sept. 5 and 17, collecting much needed support for local food banks.
