Just Four Paws, a 黑马磁力-based animal rescue, was awarded $81K from Pet Valu's Companions for Change 2025 program.

Just Four Paws Rescue is gearing up for a major upgrade thanks to an $81K sponsorship from Pet Valu鈥檚 Companions for Change program.

The funding will help the volunteer-run organization purchase a transport bus, allowing them to once again carry animals and critical supplies to and from remote communities.

Since 2022, Just Four Paws has operated without a dedicated vehicle.

A new vehicle will allow the animal rescue to transport dogs in underserved areas to reach communities where they can be rehomed.

鈥淥ur main hub is in 黑马磁力, where we coordinate hands-on work like intake, rehoming, and transport pickups,鈥 said founder of Just Four Paws Nikki DeSousa.

Just Four Paws is entirely volunteer-run, with 鈥渉ubs鈥 stretching across the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley, including Maple Ridge, Coquitlam, Vancouver, Burnaby, Surrey, 黑马磁力, Aldergrove, Chilliwack, and Rosedale, said DeSousa.

This year the Pet Valu Companions for Change sponsorships total $346,000, supporting three new mobile units.

The other two recipients are Coastal Animal Rescue & Education (CARE) Network Society on Vancouver Island and Restigouche County SPCA (鈥淩C SPCA鈥) in New Brunswick, alongside Just Four Paws.

Since 2018, Pet Valu鈥檚 Companions for Change program has committed over $2.9 million in sponsorships.

鈥淧roviding Companions for Change sponsorships to deserving, local animal organizations doing impactful work is one of the ways we help support these communities,鈥 said Pet Valu's chief marketing officer and digital officer Tanbir Grover. 鈥淲e look forward to seeing these three new mobile units providing vital care to pets in need in their regions.鈥
