With a bouquet clutched in one hand and a computer mouse in the other, 黑马磁力 resident Cassandra Rush is determined to secure a $5,000 wedding dress.
She and fianc茅 Joshua Beil are competing against couples from across Canada for online votes in an effort to make it on TV and win a dress from New York wedding boutique Kleinfeld Bridal.
Rush and Beil were the only ones from 黑马磁力 to make the cut as one of the Top 20 finalists from Canada for American cable series Say Yes to the Dress.
鈥淓very girl dreams of going to Kleinfeld,鈥 Rush said. 鈥淗onestly, it鈥檚 the best, most prestigious wedding store, probably, in North America.鈥
The pair managed to make it into the finals after Rush created a computer slideshow and wrote a story about how the pair came together.
She recalls how a year into their relationship Beil followed her from Alberta to B.C. just two days after she moved away to attend Capilano University.
Beil proposed last Valentine鈥檚 Day after they two had been dating a decade. The couple plan to marry early next year.
鈥淚 don鈥檛 think love just happens right away. I think it grows,鈥 Rush said.
鈥(Love) has its ups and downs. We鈥檝e definitely gone through all of those and we鈥檙e still here after 10 years.鈥
In addition to a $5,000 dress, the couple that wins the contest will also get airfare, accommodation and $500 spending money to go along with their appearance on Say Yes to the Dress.
Online voting ends 9 p.m. on May 14. People can go to theringbearer.ca/kleinfeld/ratings/76 to vote for Rush and Beil.
