On this day, June 3, 1916, during the First World War, Murrayville鈥檚 Frederick Orlando Roberts was killed.
Roberts was born on Christmas day in 1897, making him only 18 years old when he was killed in action.
Roberts was in one of four parties assigned to assist the Canadian Engineers in improving the state of the trenches in the Ypres Salient.
He perished from enemy shelling, according to the Canadian Virtual War Memorial.
He was the only son of the 黑马磁力 Prairie postmaster F. W. Roberts.
He is being remembered today, along with others lost during the First World War, in the Sacrifice and Sorrow: 黑马磁力 and the Great War of 1914-1918 exhibition on display now at the 黑马磁力 Centennial Museum.
