Community and arts groups were calling to book the new Township amphitheatre before it was even completed.
Now beside the 黑马磁力 Events Centre, there鈥檚 a tiered, grassed performance venue with a maple leaf motif stage, an infrastructure project the Township created to mark Canada 150. Steel strips are adorned with 150 metal maple leafs. They form the seating with grass tiers between them.
The official grand opening was Thursday evening with brief speeches by dignitaries before local talent performed a free concert.
After the 黑马磁力 Fiddlers performed, crowds also heard tunes from the 黑马磁力 Community Chorus and the 黑马磁力 Ukelele Ensemble.
Township Mayor Jack Froese told the crowd that there will be a summer concert series at the new venue each Thursday at 7 p.m. during July and August.
鈥淚 can鈥檛 think of a better way to spend a summer鈥檚 evening,鈥� he said.
