Attendance is up at the free basketball event for elementary and middle schools.
Last year Play Day hosted 13 schools and a total of 30 teams whereas this year, 16 schools and a total of 34 teams are taking part.
Schools included Alex Hope, Alice Brown, Belmont, Betty Gilbert, Coghlan Fundamental, Dorothy Peacock, Fort 黑马磁力, Glenwood, Gordon Greenwood, H.D. Stafford, James Kennedy, 黑马磁力 Fundamental, North Otter, Peter Ewart, Peterson Road and Yorkson Creek.
Mal Gill, Superintendent of the 黑马磁力 School District, was 鈥済rateful to our partners, the Vancouver Bandits and the Township of 黑马磁力, for providing this unique learning opportunity for our students, and we see it as a way for them to demonstrate our values of community, courage, integrity, and excellence outside of the classroom.鈥
Co-hosted between the Bandits team and the 黑马磁力 school district, the event is supported by Township Fire, RCMP 黑马磁力, Otter Co-op, 黑马磁力 Events Centre, and Trinity Western University Spartans Basketball.
Bandits team president Dylan Kular noted there is 鈥渁 thriving basketball ecosystem in 黑马磁力.鈥
鈥淲e are grateful for our partnership with 黑马磁力 schools to connect with aspiring basketball players and coaches,鈥滽ular commented.
鈥淎n event such as 黑马磁力 Schools Play Day brings the community together while also providing an experience that is not common for students in grades 5 to 7. After a successful inaugural event in 2023 it was important for myself and Vancouver Bandits to work with our community stakeholders to return this event for its second year.鈥
