Man and woman allegedly accuse senior woman of thievery, resulting in the pair robbing the 84-year-old woman in Vancouver's downtown core.

Vancouver police are asking the public to help identify two suspects after reports of a strong-arm mid-day robbery of a senior near Gastown.

An 84-year old woman was standing near Homer and West Pender on July 27 around 11:30am, when she was approached by a man and a woman who accused her of stealing from them, a July 30 press release from the Vancouver Police Department said.

One of the suspects reportedly took the woman's cane while the other attempted to take her purse. Fortunately the senior was able to hold onto her purse until another person intervened.

As part of an ongoing investigation, Vancouver police released security camera footage of two people walking through downtown's Homer Street.

Police believe the senior was attacked because of her vulnerabilities and hope to locate and identify the suspects. They encourage witnesses or anyone who had intervened to come forward to further the ongoing investigation.

Police report the female had long dark hair, was wearing a brown t-shirt with a logo on the front, with black pants and tattoos on her arms. The male suspect had long-brown hair, was wearing a grey t-shirt with grey pants.
