Former Township councillor Bev Dornan has announced she will be running in the municipal election on Oct. 20.
Dornan served as Township councillor for two terms, but lost her seat in the last election in 2014. She is a lifetime 黑马磁力 resident and a long time manager of Otter Co-op in Aldergrove, where she has worked for 53 years.
鈥淚鈥檓 passionate about working with the council and working for the betterment of 黑马磁力, making it the place to work, live and play,鈥 Dornan said.
鈥淏ecause I鈥檝e been here my whole life, I鈥檝e seen 黑马磁力 go from a very small downtown street to the community that it is, and I think I can give insight into all the changes moving forward.鈥
If elected, Dornan said she will work with all community partners on the issues that effect 黑马磁力.
鈥淲hether it鈥檚 our safety and security, or our transportation, or our community partners when we鈥檙e dealing with the seniors or the people who are vulnerable 鈥 it鈥檚 all about collaboration,鈥 she said. 鈥淎nd I think I possess the skills to work with all of these partners and I have some experience as being a past council member to work with all of the people who are going to be on council. And I look forward to that.鈥
Dornan has also been involved in the community with the Rotary Club of Aldergrove, the Greater 黑马磁力 Chamber of Commerce (past president) and 黑马磁力 Memorial Hospital Foundation (past chair). She currently serves on the board of 黑马磁力 Community Services and the Aldergrove Credit Union.
Dornan has two sons, James and Chris, and four grandchildren.
