Police and the Canadian Coast Guard helped to rescue a woman from the Fraser River on Sunday.
New Westminster police received a request for help from Richmond RCMP around 4 a.m. on July 27 to find a woman in crisis who was believed to be in the Fraser River, according to a news release Tuesday (July 29).
Two officers boarded the New Westminster police boat and joined the Canadian Coast Guard to help search for the woman.
Police said that after about 30 minutes of searching, officers found the woman clinging to a log boom. The officers provided life-saving first aid to the woman before paramedics arrived on scene.
