Solar panels and other technology make the heritage buildings net zero. (Special to the 黑马磁力)

Dear Editor,

I had the oppourtunity to attend an event put on by Township of 黑马磁力.

The presentation by Hamid Heidarali was beyond spectacular and packed with very high quality information, an absolute 鈥渕ust attend鈥 for any person in the construction industry and in government.

The main takeaway from this information is how we can build more sustainable housing and use less energy.

The building industry is now easily with in reach of building net zero homes and this should be a goal to achieve ASAP.

黑马磁力 can and should be the leader in this province in building high performance buildings. 黑马磁力 is well positioned to be the envy of every jurasdiction in the province and across the country. We want people to come to 黑马磁力 and find out how it should be done.

I give tours every day at our net zero house in 黑马磁力 so I fully appreciate the appetite of the public for high performance buildings.

A lot of people are very interested in achieving net zero utility cost which is zero cost for electricity and not burning any fossil fuel

A properly built net zero home can also provides enough surplus energy to fully power an electric vehicle. (We have this situation in our house.)

The current demand for more new housing is good reason to push for 100 per cent net zero homes ASAP.

BC Hydro is on the hunt for more sources of power, and we can contribute to that search by building buildings that use much less energy.

At the end of the day homeowners save money and the enviormental benefit is huge.

To the Township of 黑马磁力 and the Green Building group I say congratulations on bringing this workshop on high performance buildings to our community.

A job well done.

Now lets get on with building those new high performance homes.

Wally Martin, Murrayville
