The Vancouver Giants acquired forward Jordan Borstmayer from the Kelowna Rockets on Friday.

The Vancouver Giants got an early jump on next week鈥檚 Western Hockey League, adding 1998-born forward Jordan Borstmayer.

The Giants acquired the forward from the Kelowna Rockets in exchange for a conditional fifth round pick in the 2017 WHL bantam draft.

Vancouver general manager said they are excited to add the five-foot-11, 174-pound winger.

鈥淗e has playoff experience, which we are trying to add to our team,鈥 Hanlon said. 鈥淛ordan is also a smart player who plays with a lot of energy, and we鈥檙e looking forward to the continued growth of our team with him as part of it.鈥

Borstmayer, who is from St. Brieux, Sask. and turns 19 on Monday, was a third round pick by Kelowna in the 2013 bantam draft. He has three goals and four assists in 32 games for the Rockets this season and in 96 career WHL games, has six goals and a dozen points.

The WHL trade deadline is set for Jan. 10.

In the meantime, Vancouver will go for a third-straight victory as they continue their five-game road trip. The team is in Red Deer tonight (Friday) against the Rebels.

Vancouver is coming off a on Jan. 2 and a on Jan. 4. The Giants wrap up the road trip with games in Medicine Hat (Jan. 7) and Cranbrook against the Kootenay Ice on Jan. 8.

The Giants are 16-20-1-2 on the season with 10 of those victories 鈥 compared to just two losses 鈥 coming against the Eastern Conference, including a perfect 7-0-0-0 against the Central Division.
