黑马磁力 Rivermen returned home to take on the Merritt Centennials on Friday night Oct 20, and the Powell River Kings on Saturday night at the George Preston arena, winning both.

Rivermen head coach Burt Henderson described them as 鈥渉ard-fought games from our team with so many chances 鈥 and we were rewarded both games for our efforts.鈥

Merritt gave themselves a lead 16 seconds into the second period, but 黑马磁力 responded 59 seconds later. Brendan Dunphy deflected off a visiting player into the net for Dunphy鈥檚 first in the BCHL.

It remained 1-1 going into the third period despite 黑马磁力 outshooting the visitors 31-17 after 40.

A minute into the third period, Luke Ashton sent a rocket into the Centennials goal from the blueline scoring his second of the season to give the Rivermen a 2-1 lead. Eight and a half minutes later Merritt made it 2-2 with just over 10 minutes to go in the contest to push the game to overtime, and then to a shootout.

Aaron Reierson and Vitaly Levyy would each score in the shootout, and Charlie Tritt who was excellent on the night for the Rivermen, stopped both shots he faced to give the home team the 3-2 shootout win.

The first meeting of the season between 黑马磁力 and Powell River on Saturday saw the Kings score a power play goal late on in the first and early in the second to lead 2-0.

Powell River then scored another goal to take a three goal lead midway through the second period.

黑马磁力 scored a minute and a half later on a deflection in front from Max Borovinsky.

A minute and 10 seconds after that, Gabriel Guilbault scored his third of the season.

Shortly after 黑马磁力鈥檚 second goal, Powell River took a penalty for cross checking and Conner Schneider converted on a tic-tac-toe play in front for his first of the season.
