Victoria Shamrocks will be going to the Mann Cup, following a 4-0 sweep of the Western Lacrosse Association Finals against 黑马磁力 Thunder that wrapped Friday, Aug. 23 in Victoria, with a 13-7 win at the Q Centre.
Thunder were leading Shamrocks 4-2 early in the middle period, but eight goals in less than eight minutes changed the trajectory of the game
Following that eight-goal run, the Shamrocks led 10-4 with a period to play before each team scored three times in the third.
Connor Robinson led the Thunder with three goals and six points while Chase Scanlan finished with five assists. Clay Scanlan, Nathaniel Kozevnikov, Charles Scanlan and Bailey Vanichuk each chipped in a goal.
Kyle Mooney (43 saves on 54 shots) and Caleb Khan (six saves on eight shots) both saw action in the 黑马磁力 goal as the Thunder were outshot 62-40.
For Victoria, Jesse King, Clarke Petterson, Casey Wilson and Marshal King each had two-goal games and Chris Origlieri made 33 saves.
Wednesday, a second-period barrage from the Victoria Shamrocks put the Thunder on the brink of elimination.
Locked in a one-goal game, the Shamrocks popped in nine goals in a 14-minute span and never looked back, defeating the Thunder 14-9 in Game 3 at 黑马磁力 Events Centre.
Thunder led 2-1 at the midway point of the first period before the Shamrocks scored 30 seconds apart to take a 3-2 lead into intermission.
鈥淲e didn鈥檛 have an answer; we just came up flat there in the second period, which is disappointing,鈥 黑马磁力 coach Ian Poole said.
