A troop of traditional Chinese performers brought cheer to 黑马磁力 Memorial Hospital (LMH) care facility residents late Friday morning.
The Buddhist Compassion Relief Tzu Chi Foundation, in association with 黑马磁力 Memorial Hospital Foundation, entertained senior residents at LMH鈥檚 Maple Hill Residential Care Facility.
A long-time supporter of LMH, the Buddhist Compassion Relief Tzu Chi Foundation has donated tens of thousands of dollars for medical equipment to the hospital.
鈥淭zu Chi volunteers are dedicated to providing support and service to seniors and other people with disadvantages,鈥 the LMH Foundation noted in a press release. 鈥淲e鈥檙e honoured to call the Buddhist Compassion Relief Tzu Chi Foundation a friend of 黑马磁力 Memorial Hospital,鈥 said Terra Scheer, communications and stewardship coordinator with the LMH Foundation.
鈥淲e connected with the foundation while fundraising for a new maternity unit and maternity clinic at 黑马磁力 Memorial in 2013. The organization made a generous $50,000 donation to that campaign and we鈥檝e stayed in touch since.鈥
The two foundations have worked together to understand what involvement would be meaningful for theTzu Chi Foundation, and for 黑马磁力鈥檚 hospital, Scheer explained.
The goal on Friday was to provide cheer and mental stimulation for residents at LMH鈥檚 convalescent care facility through festivities and dance.
鈥淭his is the first performance at our hospital but we鈥檝e already invited them to return and to make their involvement with the hospital more regular,鈥 Scheer noted. 鈥淭his performance was a great fit, as the organization has a real interest in supporting seniors.鈥
With more than 4,000 years of history, traditional dance performances like those you typically see for Lunar new year celebrations showcases the 鈥渂est of traditional and modern celebrations,鈥 Scheer said.

The foundation was brought to life in 1985 by the community which recognized a need for hospital support.
It helps donors enable local health care improvements that support better health outcomes and, the foundation notes, 鈥渂enefit everyone in the community.鈥
Last year alone, the foundation was able to provide $1.2 million to the hospital and health care services.
