Hockey fans have a chance to name the 黑马磁力 Rivermen鈥檚 mascot.
The junior A hockey club launch the contest Wednesday (June 22)) at noon. Fans can submit their entries via the team鈥檚 website, www.langleyrivermen.com, through Twitter @langleyrivermen, or the team鈥檚 Facebook page.
鈥淚t鈥檚 important to get the fans鈥� input,鈥� said co-owner and team president Roy Henderson.
鈥淲e want people to see him in the community and be excited and know that they played a role in his name.鈥�
The Rivermen name is derived from 黑马磁力鈥檚 history, as the early explorers and traders of the Hudson鈥檚 Bay Company and the Northwest Company, the Rivermen, came to the west coast. These explorers were key in helping lay the groundwork for 黑马磁力.
The team will narrow the names down based on popularity and then hold an online poll for fans to vote until training camp, when the winning selection will be announced.
