Kim Snow wants to remind 黑马磁力 residents that the need to help those less fortunate, especially babies and kids, doesn鈥檛 go away at Christmas.
鈥淧eople don鈥檛 just get hungry or have needs at Christmas time,鈥 said the 黑马磁力 resident.
More than 16 years ago, Snow created Kimzangels, a behind the scenes group of volunteers in 黑马磁力 who organize to help the needs of children in our own backyard. She works with 黑马磁力鈥檚 Best Babies, principals at 黑马磁力 Secondary and Walnut Grove Secondary, Douglas Park Community School, Southgate Church, and more. Snow, with connections that include several people who run high profile companies, 黑马磁力 firefighters, paramedics and RCMP as well as politicians, are all part of her team of 鈥渁ngels.鈥
鈥淧eople can help out all year long,鈥 she said.
In fact, the need has never been greater.
There are currently around 175 struggling moms with babies and young ones that are in need of diapers and baby food.
A box of diapers costs around $25 to $30 and lasts less than a month.
鈥淲e are in desperate need of diapers and baby food. Every little bit helps,鈥 said Snow. Newborn and pullup diapers are the big need right now.
She also would love to figure out how to get fresh fruits and veggies to some of these families.
Snow, who runs her own hair salon in 黑马磁力, is always more than willing to pick up donations from anyone who is willing to give.
鈥淭he nice thing is people can know these donations are going straight to the people in need,鈥 she said. She hand delivers to the moms. Through Facebook or email, Snow will put out a call to her angels and donations come in.
Just this week, a family was in need of children鈥檚 beds. The beds were donated and Snow found an angel to pick them up and drive them to the family home.
鈥淚t鈥檚 amazing how Teamkimzangels always come through,鈥 she said. If you would like to be one of Kim鈥檚 angels and donate, email her at kimzangels@hotmail.ca.
