In recognition of national Fraud Prevention Month, Envision Financial is partnering with Iron Mountain and the 黑马磁力 RCMP to host a free shredding event.
People are invited to bring their confidential documents to Envision Financial鈥檚 regional office (6470 201 St.) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday (March 23).
鈥淚dentity theft is a growing concern and shredding confidential document is one of the best ways to protect yourself,鈥� said Lindzee Herring, the senior manager of corporate security at Envision Financial.
More than 500 people attended their two shredding events in 2012.
鈥淲hile identity theft is a reality in our society, it is often a preventable crime,鈥� said Cpl. Holly Marks of the 黑马磁力 RCMP.
鈥淏y shredding your personal information, you are taking a proactive approach to avoid being a victim.
鈥淎s police officers, we see identity theft all too often so we encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity if they are able (to).鈥�
The RCMP will be on hand to provide fraud awareness information to the public.
Iron Mountain will provide complimentary onsite paper shredding by donation.
鈥淥ur partnership with the RCMP and Envision Financial offers 黑马磁力 citizens piece of mind with secure shredding of their private documentation, environmental stewardship through paper recycling and support of a worthy cause 鈥� all of which is positive for our community,鈥� said Jane Banham, the Western Canada director of customer development for Iron Mountain.
As part of the event, Envision Financial will be accepting food and cash donations for The Full Cupboard, its newly-announced community program designed to raise food, funds and awareness for food banks. Through this program, Envision Financial has committed to raising at least $1 million for local food banks over the next 10 years.
